If you are living with someone such as a friend or relative and they have put you out without a legal eviction process, you have the right to stay in the home or apartment until the person legally evicts you out of the home. If you are giving someone Food Stamps to help out with rent, please have them give you a receipt. Also have some sought of contract in writing to show that you are living their. If you are in this situation, please contact your local police or sheriff department to have them escort you back to your home. Please do not give a friend or relative your money for housing without a receipt. This is your proof that you are living their. If they tell you that your name is not on the lease or mortagage, they still can't legally put you out without a proper eviction.
